  • KC Wide Receiver #84
Though he’s not taking every first-team practice rep with Brown sidelined, Watson — who had 27 catches as a wind sprinter last year in the KC offense — looks to be the favorite to join Xavier Worthy and Rashee Rice in three-receiver sets until Brown is ready to return. Brown went to the hospital after sustaining a serious shoulder injury in the Chiefs’ preseason opener against the Jaguars last weekend. He could be in danger of missing the team’s season opener against the Ravens. Mecole Hardman and Skyy Moore could have a rotational role while Brown is out. Moore was not targeted on seven routes last week against the Jags.
  • KC Wide Receiver #5
We now have a clearer picture of how much time Brown will be out of commission. With the Chiefs opening up at home in three weeks, Brown is likely to miss that game and possibly a few others. Xavier Worthy would be first in line to get a bump in usage, while Rashee Rice is already the team’s WR1. The positive is that he was able to avoid surgery so it won’t be the end of the world for fantasy managers who roster him.
  • KC Wide Receiver #5
Brown suffered a dislocation of his sternoclavicular shoulder joint in Saturday’s preseason game against the Jaguars and spent the night in a Jacksonville-area hospital before being released on Sunday. The veteran receiver will be sidelined for a bit, but it’s unknown at this time whether or not his absence will stretch into the team’s regular season, which starts on September 5 against the Ravens. We’ll likely have a clearer timeline about Brown’s return in the coming days, but it continues to sound as if he avoided the worst-case scenario for this type of injury.
  • KC Safety #20
Reid opened training camp on the non-football injury but is now back with the team. The veteran safety totaled 95 tackles, three sacks, and one interception in his second year with the Chiefs and has been instrumental in the team’s last two Super Bowl runs. At just 27 years old, Reid is a staple in a secondary that lost star corner L’Jarius Sneed earlier this offseason. With a little less than a month before the season gets underway, his return is a welcomed one for the Chiefs and their top-flight defense.
  • KC Wide Receiver #5
Brown stayed overnight in the hospital after suffering a dislocation of his sternoclavicular shoulder joint in Saturday night’s preseason matchup against the Jaguars. With Brown now set to return to the team, the focus will now shift to how soon he can return to the field. Head coach Andy Reid said after the game that Brown could miss some time with the injury, which seemingly puts his Week 1 availability in doubt. We’ll likely learn more about Brown’s timeline in the coming days.
  • KC Wide Receiver #5
According to Reid, Brown suffered a sternoclavicular joint dislocation. Reid compared Brown’s injury to the injury that cost Tyreek Hill four games during the 2019 season. Brown went to the hospital for further evaluation, so we’ll likely know more about the length of his absence in the coming days. Brown has been developing a nice rapport with Patrick Mahomes in training camp and was replaced by Skyy Moore after his injury. Moore would presumably take over for Brown if he misses any regular season action, but his absence would primarily boost Rashee Rice and rookie Xavier Worthy’s fantasy stocks.
  • KC Running Back #34
Prince was the third running back in the rotation for the Chiefs on Saturday, wish Isaiah Pacheco playing the first series and Clyde Edwards-Helaire getting two carries for zero yards after Pacheco exited. Prince has seen snaps with the first-team offense during practices, but he was pretty clearly third in line for Kansas City during Saturday’s contest. He was also outplayed by Carson Steele (7-29-1), but it doesn’t seem likely that Prince is in danger of losing the third spot just yet.
  • KC Wide Receiver #5
The Chiefs are calling Brown questionable to return, but it’d be shocking to see the 27-year-old return in an exhibition contest. Brown caught his lone target for 11 yards before leaving with the injury. There should be a further update on Browns’ status after the game, but the hope is that this is all precautionary.
  • FA Quarterback #9
In a post to his Instagram, Foles, a former third-round pick of the Eagles in 2012, has opted to call it quits. The veteran quarterback didn’t play an NFL snap in 2023, but he is most remembered for his run as the Eagles’ starter during the 2017 season when he stepped in for an injured Carson Wentz and led the team to an unprecedented Super Bowl victory in Super Bowl LII. During that three-game playoff stretch, Foles threw for 971-6-1 while completing 72.6 percent of his passes. He was on the receiving end of the famous “Philly Special,” which helped give the Eagles a 22-12 lead over the Patriots before halftime. A journeyman quarterback who spent time with six different franchises over his career, Foles is also one of nine quarterbacks to throw for seven touchdowns in a game, which he did during a Week 9 contest against the Raiders. Foles retires with a career 29-29 record while throwing for 14,227 yards and 82 touchdowns.
  • KC Kicker #7
The new deal for Butker includes $17 million in guarantees and makes him the league’s highest paid kicker. The former Panthers castoff has been one of the NFL’s best kickers over his seven seasons with Kansas City, hitting 89 percent of his field goal attempts and 94.5 percent of his extra points. After a down year in 2022, Butker came back strong in 2023 with 33 field goals on 35 attempts. He made all five of his attempts of more than 50 yards after struggling from distance in 2022.
